Welcome to the 2024/2025 students!
Every year, Grenoble Alpes welcomes nearly 65,000 students from over 180 countries. This year, Grenoble placed as the 5th best student city in France.
Located at the crossroads of majestic mountain ranges, the Grenoble metropolitan area offers an exceptional living environment, vibrant neighborhoods, a world-class innovation ecosystem, with a wide range of activities. In 2022, the city was awarded the European Green Capital Prize, recognizing its strong commitment to social and environmental transitions.
Grenoble Alpes Métropole warmly welcomes its new students with free passes and opportunities to enjoy unique experiences in the region.
This year, with more than 850 students enrolled from over 30 countries, the "Bienvenue aux étudiants Grenoble Alpes" program has been a resounding success! Since September, 16 free events have been organized for students in Grenoble:
- Mountain excursion to the Lautaret Garden
- Rugby, hockey, and football matches
- Cultural Performances at L’Hexagone and MC2
- Tours of facilities linked to sustainability (Athanor Sorting Center) and key companies in the area (Air Liquide, Roche Diagnostics, Teledyne, etc.)
- Creative workshops at La Casemate
- Guided city tours (street art, history)
- A dance evening with the Grenoble National Choreographic Center
- Scientific discoveries at the Cosmocité Planetarium (a few places are still available here Pass Cosmocité).
The program continues from January through April, offering exciting activities such as:
- Ski/snowshoe pass at the Col de Porte
- Football, hockey, and rugby matches
- Hiking/sledding trips in Chamechaude
- Opera at MC2 and shows at L’Hexagone
- Tours of leading regional companies (ESRF, Lynred, etc.)
- Concert tickets in April!
Sign up quickly, as spots are limited! Simply fill out the online form, attach your schoo certificate, and you’ll receive instructions to collect your passes and/or participate in activitie.

Janvier
Your Ticket for the Bastille « Bubbles »
Enjoy a free ride on Grenoble’s iconic cable car, inaugurated in 1934 and one of the
world’s first urban cable cars. Travel from the city center to the Bastille Fort, a
emblematic site offering breathtaking views of Grenoble and the surrounding mountains.

Ice Skating Pass with Skate Rental
Get a free entry to skate at Pôle Sud Ice Rink, with equipment included. Whether you’re a
beginner or a pro, enjoy the ice with your pass during their opening hours!

Day Pass for Nordic Skiing or Snowshoeing at Chamechaude
Explore the Chamechaude Ski Area, the perfect spot for diverse outdoor activities. This
pass offers a day of adventure: choose between snowshoeing or cross-country skiing
with gear rental included

Hockey Match: Grenoble vs. Bordeaux
Experience the excitement of ice hockey as the Grenoble Brûleurs de Loups face off
against Bordeaux. Whether you’re a dedicated hockey fan or just curious about the sport,
this event is not for the faint of heart!

Visit to ESRF (European Synchrotron Radiation Facility)
Dive into the world of cutting-edge science at ESRF. Discover how this unique facility uses ultra-bright X-rays to explore matter, advancing knowledge in health, environment, and energy.

An Evening at the Opera: The Carnival of Venice
Immerse yourself in the festive world of baroque Venice with The Carnival of Venice, an opera-ballet by André Campra. Experience a mix of Italian and French singing, comedy, and drama, brought to life by Il Caravaggio, under the direction of Camille Delaforge.

Rugby Match: Grenoble vs. Aurillac

Hiking and Airboard Sledding at Col de Porte

Football Match: Grenoble vs. Guingamp
Watch Grenoble Foot 38 take on Guingamp in an exciting football match at the Stade des Alpes. Show your support for the local team and soak in the lively atmosphere!

Theater Performance: ExPéKa

Visit to Lynred: Infrared Technology Leader

Who can participate?
The "Bienvenue aux étudiants Grenoble Alpes" initiative is open to first-year students enrolled in a higher education program in the Grenoble Metropolitan Area, upon presenting their 2024/2025 school certificate. International students newly arrived at UGA, GEM, ESAD can also apply with their 2024/2025 school certificate.

- Fill out the form and provide the required documents (student cards are not accepted).
- Your application will be verified and processed.
- You will receive a confirmation email within 10 days.
