Welcome to the 2024/2025 students!
Every year, Grenoble Alpes welcomes nearly 60,000 students from over 180 countries. This year, Grenoble placed as the 5th best student city in France.
Located at the crossroads of majestic mountain ranges, the Grenoble metropolitan area offers an exceptional living environment, vibrant neighborhoods, a world-class innovation ecosystem, with a wide range of activities. In 2022, the city was awarded the European Green Capital Prize, recognizing its strong commitment to social and environmental transitions.
Grenoble Alpes Métropole warmly welcomes its new students with free passes and opportunities to enjoy unique experiences in the region.
This year, with more than 1300 students enrolled from over 30 countries, the "Bienvenue aux étudiants Grenoble Alpes" program has been a resounding success! Since September, 35 free events have been organized for students in Grenoble:
- Mountain excursion to the Lautaret Garden
- Rugby, hockey, and football matches
- Cultural Performances at L’Hexagone and MC2
- Tours of facilities linked to sustainability (Athanor Sorting Center) and key companies in the area (Air Liquide, Roche Diagnostics, Teledyne, etc.)
- Creative workshops at La Casemate
- Guided city tours (street art, history)
- A dance evening with the Grenoble National Choreographic Center
- Scientific discoveries at the Cosmocité Planetarium (a few places are still available here Pass Cosmocité).
The program continues from January through April, offering exciting activities such as:
- Ski/snowshoe pass at the Col de Porte
- Football, hockey, and rugby matches
- Hiking/sledding trips in Chamechaude
- Opera at MC2 and shows at L’Hexagone
- Tours of leading regional companies (ESRF, Lynred, etc.)
- Concert tickets in April!

Your Ticket for the Bastille « Bubbles »
Enjoy a free ride on Grenoble’s iconic cable car, inaugurated in 1934 and one of the
world’s first urban cable cars. Travel from the city center to the Bastille Fort, a
emblematic site offering breathtaking views of Grenoble and the surrounding mountains.

Your Pass for the Cosmocité exhibition and planetarium
Explore the mysteries of the Universe and Earth with Cosmocité! This science center in the Grenoble metropolitan area is dedicated to bringing science closer to the public. It makes the mysteries and challenges of the Earth, the universe and the environment accessible in a fun, interactive way. Win your pass and visit the center's exhibition and planetarium.

3 evenings at the Magic Bus Festival
Get free tickets for 3 evenings of the Magic Bus contemporary music festival. This emblematic Grenoble festival showcases emerging artists in the city's most famous concert halls. The program: rap, pop, rock, reggae, blues, raï... a variety of music with influences from all over the world, guaranteed to make your evenings memorable.

Visit of the CEA
Visit the CEA (French Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies Commission), a major player in scientific and technological research in France! Its various laboratories have led to major advances in the fields of energy, digital technology, medicine, space, security, etc.The CEA is internationally renowned, but its doors are rarely open to the public, this visit is an opportunity to get inside !

Visit of the Green Data Center - Orange
Visit the Green Data Center, a center designed to host online data in an eco-responsible way. Every day, we send e-mails, watch videos and use online applications. All this informations are physically stored in Data Centers that consume as much electricity as 30,000 Europeans a year. But since 2011, Orange Business has been operating the Green Data Center, whose environmental impact is largely under control. Find out how it was designed and the innovative technologies used!

10 days of culture launch event
Every spring, Grenoble Alpes Métropole organizes the 10 Jours de la Culture (Days of Culture) in 40 towns and cities across the region. In all, 90 cultural and artistic events are offered free of charge to local residents: theater, magic, dance, cinema, heritage... A launch event with music and entertainment is scheduled for Saturday April 12 at 4pm at La Correspondance.

Terms of participation
Who can participate?
The "Bienvenue aux étudiants Grenoble Alpes" initiative is open to first-year students enrolled in a higher education program in the Grenoble Metropolitan Area, upon presenting their 2024/2025 school certificate, and also to international students newly arrived at UGA or its associated institutions, GEM or ESAD can also apply with their 2024/2025 school certificate.

Registrations open on March 31, 2025, for this second session.

- Fill out the form and provide the required documents (student cards are not accepted).
- Your application will be verified and processed.
- You will receive a confirmation email within 10 days.
